  • One Thing Not Made Obsolete By Technology

    Yesterday, on 1-11-11, Ann and I officially celebrated our 25th anniversary. We actually began the celebration with a week-long trip to the Greek island of Kos last September and have been basking in the glow for the past three months.

    Someone asked us yesterday what lessons we had learned from each other. My answer was simple. “From Ann I have learned love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness and, to some extent, self-control.”

    Amen for marriage! One man, one woman, committed to each other for a lifetime. Trust me, commitment will never become obsolete.

    Goodbye, Dali!

    This week I have been reflecting on how many things I no longer see, use or need in light of tech advances. For instance, neither of my college aged kids need maps or watches since they have smart phones. We have a bookcase full of family videos recorded on VHS tapes. We subscribe to the printed local newspaper only because the coupons pay for themselves. Groupon may change that in 2011. And CDs? With iTunes who needs them?
